Haunted horse stable

1998, Tuusula. I quit my job as a restaurant manager and needed a new home after my employment related apartment. I moved to a horse stable, where I trained retired trotters dressage. I also took care of the animal family that grew over the months: 15 horses, 12 cats, 12 dogs (5 adults and puppies) and 6 rabbits. At the beginning we only had 6 horses and for some reason both the middle and outer door to the other part of the stable were nailed shut.

In my landlady's dream she heard that the doors must not be opened. In the dream, there were three figures who placed black roses on her chest. At that time, we had lived there for a few months and more horses were coming. The doors had to be opened. Even before this, the lights had turned on and off during the night. Also, the route inside the house from upstairs to downstairs, where I lived next to the boiler room, always felt uncomfortable and the hair stood up when passing the spot. We didn't talk about these events until my friend had that dream.

My German Shepherd Fondy, looked to same direction every night and growled, her fur standing up. The gaze led from the forest to the door of the boiler room, the place that all of us felt uncomfortable at. The clock on the wall moved forward 2 minutes after 1:30 and dropped back down. Sometimes it would stop completely for days and then started to do the same 2 min movement again. The electrical devices could stop working and were OK again when tested a little later. The cowbell rings in the closet on its own. Sometimes a white horse could be seen at the end of the road leading to the stables. Or a little granny on the side of the road, always on the right side, no matter which direction you came from. Faded away when approached.

The horses ran out of the stable in the middle of the night from the beginning. No matter how we locked the stalls, they always got free. The bars were so close to each other that a sod or a hoof would not have fit between them. Sometimes the doors opened very quickly. When I picked up the next horse from the pen, the previous horse I picked up 3 minutes before was already waiting at the front door again. The neighbors were used to the horses always being loose at our stable and knew how to let us know that they have one at their yard and we could come pick it up. Many other things happened during those few months, but I will shorten the story to the main points. Since we were dealing with former trotters (including stallions) who were beaten to run, the transition from trot to gallop was often a matter of fear for these horses. The gallop was something bad and you had to run away from it. First, trot as fast as you usually do on the track, and then finally, with encouragement, it turned to gallop. But we went fast.

The cheek piece and reins started to open by themselves. No matter how much we checked and made sure, they sometimes opened every 5 minutes. Opening the cheek piece or the reins means that the bit can fall from the mouth, which is the way to stop the horse, would not have been possible. In either case. We started asking the neighbors if they knew any stories about our stable. They said that a grandmother had tripped over the threshold of the boiler room, hit her head and drowned in 10 cm deep water that had spilled onto the floor of the boiler room. On the overpass of the stable, the groom had fallen into the oat silo and drowned in the oats. The stable girls found a commemorative plaque made for him. The third weird death was an older woman who had taken the same drugs for decades but had overdosed and died.

My 'brother in spirit' Riku visited our home a couple of times and being 'sensitive person' said there is something going on. Once when he was visiting, both dogs in the room with us began to growl and their gaze moved under the table. Sitting at the table, my and the landlady's legs started to go completely numb. Then, finally, came fear, because it was so physical. Riku said that he will go see where this 'disturbance' is located and what it is. He found a small patch of swamp in the nearby forest and concluded that this 'trouble making elemental' lives there. Those three figures seen in the dream are just there to warn us. Riku said that he made an agreement with this creature about where the limits to its movement are and if there is something to 'say', then it's fine to jingle the cowbell (which was ringing on its own in the closet) at his place and took it home. That was the end of all kinds of harassment. Agreements can be made.
